The invisible confusion and the expectations of others can often feel overwhelming. In this work, I use the image of a cocoon to express this state of mind. By wrapping my body with pantyhose like a web of silk, I represent the feeling of being trapped in confusion, pressure, and inner struggle. Yet within this restraint, the desire for change begins to grow. Like a silkworm preparing to become a butterfly, there is a strong wish to break free from limitations and spread its wings.

This artwork is based on a self-portrait photograph printed on rice paper. I then added charcoal drawings and acrylic gesso on the surface. The originally milky-white gesso reveals different layers and textures when illuminated by a lightbox placed behind the work, creating an effect similar to painted brushstrokes. The light gives new life to the materials and also symbolizes the awakening of self-awareness. Moving between photography and painting, the work presents a journey from restriction and self-discovery to transformation and growth.
